The Complaining Parasite

Today, we address the fourth type of parasite we need to purge out of our lives, The complaining parasite. This parasite also goes by another name, the fault finder. These parasites find the problem for every solution, the negative for every positive. They will find the worst in every situation.

They will complain about everything in life. Especially about everything you try to do for them. They will quickly point out your every fault and complain about it. They will never be truly grateful for anything or anyone – let alone what you do for them.

The Bible has much to say about the dangers of complaining and about hanging out with those that do. Now I’m not talking about the average complaining everyone of us can easily find ourselves doing. But about the ungrateful attitude the complaining parasite has inside their hearts.

In Deuteronomy 1:34-35, Moses told the Israelites “When the Lord heard your complaining, he became very angry.  So he solemnly swore, ‘Not one of you from this wicked generation will live to see the good land I swore to give your ancestors.

Here we see that complaining not only upsets Yahweh, but it also keeps us from receiving the good things he has for us.

And just like with the angry person, if we hang out with a complaining person, we will learn their ways. And like gossip, complaining is an infectious disease that floods your spirit like a cancer and destroys your reputation and out look on life.

Jude described these parasites best when he said “These people are grumblers and complainers, living only to satisfy their desires. They brag loudly about themselves, and they flatter others to get what they want. (Jude 1:16)

Their only desire is to infect you with their toxic viewpoint on life and kill your dreams – the ministry (work) Yahweh has given you to do in Christ. They want to drag you down to their level and destroy your faith!

So you need to cut these parasites out of your life.

Here’s how you purge them out of your life. Stopping spending time around this type of person. Surround yourself with people who have a positive, grateful attitude of life. Remember, attitudes are contagious.

Solomon moved by the Holy Spirit wrote: Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. (Proverbs 4:23)

We do this by not only surrounding ourselves with grateful people, but also by focusing on doing the work Yahweh has for us to do and thinking about how blessed we are, how privileged we are to be chosen by Christ to do His work.  As the Lord says in Philippians 2:14-15, Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.

So guard your heart and your lives. Eliminate these parasites from you soul and life with a good dose of the medicine of Yahweh’s word. As it is written: Jesus said, “Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” and “For he who sins is a slave to sin, but whom the Son sets free is free indeed.”

Remember, Christ is the Word and the Word is Truth.
